         The undersigned assumes all risks and understands that windsurfing is a potentially hazardous sport and that there may be variable wind and weather conditions that may arise and the windsurfer assumes all inherent risks associated with this sport.  Due to the fresh water mussel population, Windsurfing-Maine recommends wearing footwear at all times.  The undersigned understands that falls and collisions may result and therefore the windsurfer assumes the burden of sailing under control at all times.  Rental gear may be revoked without return at any time by management for misconduct or misuse.

         I __________________________ hold Windsurfing-Maine harmless for any accident or injuries incurred during any and all windsurfing lessons or rentals. It is agreed that the student is physically and mentally capable of accomplishing the task, and that the student is a capable swimmer. It is agreed that the student will follow the rules of Windsurfing-Maine and will follow all safety instructions.  The student is deemed to be in good health and has no health problems that would endanger her or his safety or those of other students while taking windsurfing lessons.

The U.S. Coast Guard has a PFD (personal floatation device) exemption for windsurfers,

which leaves the choice of whether or not to wearing a PFD up to the individual.
