Barclay's will NO LONGER be offering HYDRO inspections for LUXFER Aluminum Scuba tanks with manufacture dates before 1990. Luxfer Tanks made before 1990 may have been manufactured with Alloy# 6351, which has been found to potentially explode,  when being filled, inspected, or spontaneously.  Most recently at tank exploded here at a Dive Shop in New England.

   If anyone wants to sell you a used Aluminum tank, please do not purchase it, but rather, bring it by, so we can identify it's manufacture dates before you throw your money away.

   The D.O.T. requires that these tanks be Eddy~Current tested and Hydro tested ($100+ for you, the consumer) every 5 years, at the same facility, by the same tank technician. 

   OK, a $100 inspection on a tank that today sells for $159, or save $25 while using a potentially lethal tank.... You do the math.
